Explore the Outdoors at the Armand Bayou Nature Preserve
Located on the pristine Texas Gulf Coast, the Armand Bayou Nature Center is dedicated to preserving the ecosystems that surround it. They encourage all nature enthusiasts to visit the Center, get outdoors, and get involved. The Center is an ideal setting for birding aficionados. Or, learn more about the plants and animals indigenous to the area with a hike along the Nature Center’s trails.
Journey back in time with a trip to Martyn Farm, where you’ll learn more about 1800’s farm life, or view the live animal displays of bison, snakes, hawks, alligators and turtles. The younger folks will love the various EcoClasses for Kids, and guided canoe tours are available the second Saturday of each month. Be sure to make reservations on the electric pontoon boat, the “Bayou Ranger,” for a uniquely refreshing experience. You’ll spend Saturday morning leisurely drifting along, sipping juice or coffee while observing the wildlife that makes the bayou their home.
The Center is sustained through memberships and donations. For more information, call (713) 274-2668, or visit http://www.abnc.org/
