An Ideal Eco-Tourism Destination

Located in the Clear Lake area, the Armand Bayou Nature Center makes up a spectacularly scenic and beautiful part of Texas’ Gulf Coast. One of their primary missions is the preservation of the wetlands prairie, marsh, and forest habitats that surround it. Guests are invited to hike the Nature Center’s trails, learn more about the plants and animals that make their home here, and to see the live displays of bison, snakes, hawks, turtles, and alligators.

Birders will find the Center an ideal setting, and guests are encouraged to visit Martyn Farm to see first-hand what life was like on a Texas farm during the late 1800’s. Guided canoe tours are available or you can make arrangements to board the “Bayou Ranger,” an electricity-powered pontoon boat. With either form of transport, you’ll see the quiet beauty of the Bayou from a front-row seat. The Center also offers EcoClasses to toddlers, pre-schoolers, and younger schoolchildren, which feature immersive environmental activities and education. For details about tours or classes, call (281) 474-2551.
