Take a Walk on the Wild Side

Want to thrill your family with a couple of unique wildlife experiences located nearby? We suggest the following two options, beginning with the Crocodile Encounter in Angleton. Located near the Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge, this is one terrific opportunity for up-close encounters with everything from giant tortoises and wild hogs to alligators, crocodiles, and more. You can tour this zoological park on your own, or opt for a guided tour. The guided tours are led by knowledgeable guides and are very popular, as they include up to two hours of activities such as exclusive seating for feeding times, photo ops, and close encounters with a variety of the park’s residents.

The gift shop even has special food available for purchase if you want to have a feeding experience. And don’t miss the chance to go batty with a visit to Houston’s Waugh Bridge and the Buffalo Bayou. The underside of the bridge is home to a colony of more than 200,000 Mexican free-tailed bats that emerge every evening near sunset. Join fellow bat-watchers from the Bat Colony Observation Deck, or pack up a picnic and watch from the grassy banks of the bayou.
